On May 25, 1994 Steve Swenson made a solo climb up the North Col. of Mount Everest, he reached the summit without bottled oxygen. Steve has made climbs throughout the Himalaya Mountain, including K2. In 2004 he returned to Pakistan to climb in the Charakusa Valley.

Swenson, past ACC director made a successful first ascent on Kapura Peak (6554m) in 2004, however, was forced to turn back just 300m from the summit of unclimbed K7 due to dangerous snow conditions. During which, Steve’s pack was swept 1000m down the face due to a small slab avalanche.

Swenson was good friends with Alex Lowe, and sits on the Board of Directors for the Alex Lowe Charity Foundation. When Steve is not climbing he spends time sharing his adventures with others through talks and slide shows.
