Kazbek Khamitsayev currently is chairman of North Ossetia's mountaineering club. He was recently in the news, when a huge chunk of glacier that crashed down a mountainside in southern Russia, was reported to have killed as many as 150 people. He attributed the glacier's fall to humid, rainy weather in the area this summer (2002).
