Ko Sang-don became the first Korean
climber to Summit Everest on 12:50 local time (16:50 Korean Standard
Time) Sept 15, 1977 via the standard South East Ridge route. Ko Sang-don, who was a young
Korean alpinist belonged to the 2nd attack party of the Korean Everest
expedition led by Kim Young-do. He raised the the Taegukki, the
national flag of the Republic of Korea, on the top of Everest.
