George
Dunn is a professional mountaineer who has made a career of climbing some of
the tallest mountains in the world, including a 1991 summit of Everest along
the North East Ridge as part of an American team lead by Eric Simonson and the
North Face of 8,586-meter Kangchenjunga, the world's third tallest peak.
George is an avid Nordic and
backcountry skier. He has been a Senior Guide with Rainier Mountaineering
since 1975 and holds the record for the most successful ascent of Mt. Rainier
(over 464 as of September, 2003). He is also the director or Winter Programs
at Mt. Rainier and a certified Alpine and Ski Guide with the American Mountain
Guides Association.
The rest of George's
mountaineering resume is varied and impressive. He holds the record for the
most winter ascents of Mt. Rainier (over 40). He has 13 expeditions of Mt.
McKinley, and 15 expeditions to Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, Alaska, as
well as hundreds of ascents of alpine peaks and rock climbs to his credit. He
has also made a Successful ski crossing of South George Island, Antarctica.
